7 Fiverr Gig Title Mistakes That Kill Your Click-Through Rate
Your gig title does two jobs at once: it tells Fiverr's search algorithm what you do, and it tells a scrolling buyer whether to stop and click. Most sellers optimize for neither. Here are the seven mistakes we see most often, and the fix for each.
1. Burying the service in vague language
"I will do graphic design for you" tells a buyer nothing. Titles that convert are specific about the deliverable.
2. Ignoring the "I will..." format
It's a cliché because it works — it's how Fiverr's own category browsing renders titles, and buyers subconsciously expect it. Titles that break the pattern stand out for the wrong reasons.
3. Keyword stuffing
Cramming five services into one title ("logo, branding, business card, letterhead, social media kit") reads as unfocused and desperate. Pick the single service the title should rank for; put the rest in your tags and description.
4. Titles that are too short or too long
Under 20 characters usually means you're not being specific enough. Over 90 characters gets truncated in search results and looks cut off. The sweet spot is 40–70 characters — enough room to be descriptive without losing the end of the sentence.
5. ALL-CAPS words and excessive punctuation
"I will design a PROFESSIONAL logo!!!" doesn't read as enthusiasm — it reads as spam. Skip the caps lock and the stacked exclamation points. Confidence comes from specificity, not volume.
6. No category keyword alignment
If your category is "Logo Design" but your title never mentions logos, you're fighting your own search relevance. Make sure your primary category keyword appears naturally in the title itself, not just in the tags.
7. Never testing it against your actual competitors
Most sellers write a title once and never revisit it. Pull up the top 10 gigs in your category and actually read their titles side by side with yours — differentiation is usually obvious once you see them together.
Title quality is one of eight dimensions we score in the free Gig Health Check — pricing strategy, description quality, reviews, portfolio strength, response time, upsells, and SEO alignment are the other seven. A weak title on an otherwise strong gig is one of the highest-leverage, lowest-effort fixes available.
